TRISTAN KNIGHT
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Tristan Knight is an artist who embodies truth, creativity, and evolution in Hip Hop. Growing up in a single-parent household with his mother, grandmother, uncle, and younger brother, Knight’s passion for music was sparked early on. Inspired by his mother’s love for music, he began writing lyrics at 13 after watching a classmate trade homework for rhymes. This pivotal moment ignited his journey into rap.
Balancing his love for basketball and music throughout high school, Knight eventually realized that his true calling was in Hip Hop. At 20, he ventured into self-production, determined to craft his own sound rather than rely on others. His early career saw him making waves in Detroit’s underground scene under the moniker Acapella, where he was part of The Not F*cking Around Crew (TNFAC) from 2010-2015. During this period, he released four independent albums: The R3eValuation, Ov3rslept, The R3Invention, and Time & Money, producing standout tracks like “Pain”, “High Times”, and “U’ve Changed”.
Knight’s raw talent and relentless grind led him to share stages with major artists such as Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, Gucci Mane, Royce 5’9”, and Trick Trick. In 2015, he relocated to Los Angeles to further pursue his career, eventually releasing Dark Days, Bright Knight, LEFTOVERS, and LAUDER Deluxe: 10014 under his independent imprint, Geniusly Evolved Music.
Knight’s latest self-produced single “I Got What You Need”, is a confident feel-good anthem about perseverance and self-belief—reminding listeners that everything they’ve been searching for is already within reach. His music continues to be a testament to his soulful, fun, and thought-provoking artistry, setting him apart in today’s Hip Hop landscape.
